Our beautiful Dolkar (White Tara) statue was sculpted using the traditional lost wax method in Patan, Nepal — completely hand crafted in intricate detail, including the delicate hand painting of her face. Her most prominent features are her seven eyes, which imbue all her thoughts and actions with perfected wisdom: two on her face, an eye on each palm and on the soles of her feet, and the third eye of wisdom painted upright on her forehead between the brows. Every eye is delicately hand painted. The Nepali artisans created the statue with the crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva — a tall five-pointed crown around her blue-black painted hair, which sweeps up into a topknot crowned by a curling gold finial, with large disc-and-leaf ear ornaments framing the face. At the request of the buyer, we will gladly adorn the crown and jewels with turquoise and red coral stones — the colors will enliven the statue and inspire all who see it. The 24K gold finish was applied using the fire gilding method, giving our beautiful Dolkar statue a lifelike golden luster. For common questions, see the White Tara statues FAQ.Beautiful Dolkar Statue SymbolsDolkar sits in full lotus pose on a single lotus pedestal, its petals ringed above a finely engraved leaf band. Her raised left hand holds the stem of a lotus delicately between thumb and fingers in the gesture of refuge and teaching, the stalk rising to a closed bud beside her left shoulder, while her right hand drapes over the right knee in the Varada, or boon-granting, mudra, with a fully opened lotus blossoming beside her right shoulder. The paired flowers — one open, one still a bud — are a symbolic representation of the rewards that await in enlightenment, the Dharma flowering across past, present, and future. Ribboned scarves sweep outward in wide loops at both sides, completing the composition.
