In addition to a standard rebuild, we have the capability of upgrading these racks to Mustang R-Spec tuning standards. R-Spec racks are highly coveted and nearly impossible to purchase, so upgrading your basic rack during rebuild is an easy and guaranteed way to improve road feel. R-Spec Upgrade Information Contrary to popular belief, the R-Spec rack and pinion did not have a different rack ratio, but rather a custom-valve profile to increase steering effort by about 25-30% compared to a standard model. This is also applicable to the SVO model. This higher effort provides better road feel and feedback to what the front of the car is doing. This is especially desired for drag, autocross, and road racing applications where it is critical that the driver feels the front-end response. Our R-Spec rebuild does just that – increase your steering effort by 25-30% to match R-Spec valving. This modification is done while we perform the regular rack rebuild, and only takes slightly longer for turnaround. This upgrade is only available for 1999-2004 model years with the triangle/tri-lobe input shaft.
