Biography engraver: Pierre Charles Coqueret (1761-1832) was a French engraver renowned for his finely executed stipple engravings, especially those after works by Horace Vernet. He collaborated with Parisian publishers including Basset and specialized in military and genre scenes. Biography artist: Emile Jean Horace Vernet (1789-1863) was a French painter celebrated for his military and historical subjects. Grandson of Claude-Joseph Vernet, he served as official court painter under Louis-Philippe and was a prominent figure in 19th-century French academic art.
