Biography engraver: Crispijn de Passe the Elder (1564-1637) was a Flemish artist known for his work as a draughtsman, engraver, and publisher. His career took him across several cities in Europe. He began his career in Antwerp but had to flee due to religious reasons, eventually settling in Cologne by 1589. Later, he moved to Utrecht in 1611. Crispijn de Passe the Elder was the father of several notable artists, including Simon, Magdalena, Crispin II, and Willem. Biography artist: Jan Brueghel the Elder (1568-1625) was a Flemish painter and draftsman from Antwerp, son of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Known for his refined landscapes, allegorical scenes and detailed cabinet paintings, he collaborated with many artists including Rubens. Jan Brueghel the Younger (1601-1678), his son, continued the family workshop and reproduced and adapted many of his father’s compositions, contributing to the wide dissemination of the Brueghel landscape style. Paul Bril (1554-1626) was a Flemish painter and draftsman known for his influential landscape compositions. Born in Antwerp, he worked primarily in Rome where he became one of the leading landscape painters of his time. His designs were widely reproduced in engravings and influenced the development of Northern landscape art.
