Description This print shows a view on a landscape with a horsedrawn covered cart near a farm, in the dunes near Haarlem, the Netherlands. Made by Hermanus van Brussel after own design. Medium: Etching / engraving on wove paper. Sheet size: 10 x 8.8 cm (3.94 x 3.46 inch). Image size: 9 x 8 cm. (3.54 x 3.15 inch). Condition: good, given age. Small margin. Remains of glue in upper corners on reverse. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Biography engraver: Hermanus van Brussel (1763-1815) was a Dutch painter, etcher, draftsman and watercolourist. Van Brussel started out as a wallpaper painter. He also painted theatre sets, including for the Amsterdam Theatre and, at the request of King Louis Napoleon, for the theatre in Het Loo Palace. In Haarlem he painted sets for the theater company “Kunstliefde”. His works include paintings and drawings of landscapes, often made around Haarlem, and cityscapes.
