Berchem. Medium: Etching / engraving on handlaid / verge paper. Sheet size: 20.8 x 16.4 cm (8.19 x 6.46 inch). Image size: 19 x 15 cm. (7.48 x 5.91 inch). Condition: good, given age. Justus Danckerts (1635-1701), Dutch engraver and etcher from Amsterdam. Brother of Dancker Danckerts. Reference: Nicolaes Berchem: In het licht van Itali?, Frans Halsends, 2006, p. 127. Provenance: Two stamps on reverse. One “dubbel RPK” (Lugt 2233) and the other a circle with a coat of arms & KONING BIBLIO (Lugt 240), both from the Rijksprentenkabinet Amsterdam. Biography artist: Johannes Visscher (1633-na 1692), was a Dutch engraver and etcher and brother from Cornelis and Lambert Visscher. Nicolaas Pietersz. Berchem, (Haarlem, 1622 – Amsterdam, 18 februari 1683) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, and etcher. He is best known for his pastoral Mediterranean landscapes.
